A man who I've known for over forty years now, who is a skilled martial artist in his own right, started a group with some friends and I to learn and practice serious self-defense, using whatever weapons are available.
Honoring Miyamoto Musashi, but basing the name on a weapon that had practical use in the modern world, we decided to refer to our 'ryu' (Japanese for 'school') as the Three Five Seven Ryu.
